Paulito FG is known to be a great leagues musician, an artist in the whole word extension, who has been able to develop a singular career employing great intelligence and making huge squandering of his enormous talent, giving away in each of his concerts his love for arts.
Pablo Alfonso Fernández Gallo was born on January the 11th, 1962 in La Habana.
At the age of 19, he started taking clarinet classes at the music conservatory “Ignacio Cervantes”. His particular voice pitch, called attention and was right away recommended to the “Benny Moré” music specialists, initiating as a professional singer.
In 1986 he acted on the International Festival of Varadero with Adalberto Álvarez.
Two years later he was already star singer of the “Dan Den Group” of Juan Carlos Alfonso, group in which two singles of himself, “El humo o la vida” y “Siempre hay un ojo que te ve”, located him among the first places of the popularity.
In 1991, recorded with Opus, group directed by Master Joaquín Betancourt, his first album, in which almost all the songs were of his authorship.
The next year carried out a successful tour to Mexico and in 1992 came back to Havana and founded his own group, “Paulito FG y su Élite”, debuting on April 19th at the Neptune Hotel of Havana City.
His first album, “Tú no me calculas”, was recorded in 1993 along with his group, taking place the launch in Havana and Tokyo simultaneously.
In 1994 signed with Magic music, of Barcelona, and recorded his second plate, “Sofocándote”, that remained at the hit parade of the national radio for at least 22 weeks.
Paulito FG's third album, “El bueno soy yo” was introduced in 1996 and its impact had no precedent. In the category of best discography of the year of the EGREM awards ceremony of EGREM, raised up with the award prizes to Dancing Music and Popularity.
In 1997 recorded to the Fania his fourth album: “Con la conciencia tranquila” and several of his tracks held the firsts places on the national and international lists.
The next year recorded a tribute album to Tito Rodriguez, named “Tributo a Tito Rodríguez” in which included boleros and “guarachas” of the 60's, and in 2000 brought out the album, “Una vez más por amor”, another success on national and international fields.
“Te deseo suerte” album was introduced in 2002 and again swept the hit parade lists in Cuba and outside.
In 2005 recorded with BISMUSIC, his CD “Ilusión”, one of classic boleros redoubled to the contemporary style of Paulito's interpretation, joined with his band, la Élite and the musical direction of Fernando Soria y Ángel Martínez, as well as the so elaborated work of arranges of Soria y Paulito, gaining the prize to the best proposal on the category of “Cancionistica”, during the Cubadisco 2006 Awards ceremony.
In 2006, FG recorded his album, “Un poquito de to´”, with BISMUSIC also, placing several of his songs on the national and abroad preference and topping the list of popularity, TV rating and radio. This time Paulo fusions with intelligence, son, rock, rumba, jazz, rap and reggaeton.
In 2010 he records his most recent production “Sin etiqueta”, this album is basically “cuban timba” with one or another variety. Every tracks included on the album have had excellent approval by the national and international audience.
Since 1992 PFG has taken his musical proposal to the scenarios of twenty countries and his tracks have topped the lists of the radio of New York, Miami, Lima and Bogotá.
Important stars of New York saloon and Puerto Rico have versioned his songs, like Johnny Rivera or Isidro Infante. In his country he has leaded most of the surveys of popularity from his star to nowadays.
Today’s Paulito distinguishes by his works of melodic studied lines, non-orthodox rhythmic passages, a contained rocker energy and text that if so they are faithful chronicles of its time, they don't yield to the ease or the vulgarity.
FG represents the expressionism of the Cuban from the streets, the richness of poetry from the popular roots and the presence of the life that surround us, as real as its presented to ourselves. He achieves to fusion several rhythms like rock, ballad, jazz and son obtaining a blend full of novel texts in wishes he prints his singular seal.
For many critics he represents a reveal, for his public he is the most popular of these times and for himself: a cinephile and a faithful lover of jazz in the he has off. An on top of all, a respectful public lover and absolutely in love with music.
Improvisations that border on the glare of the Cuban music are the premises of Paulo FG, with a fabulous blend of folk roots, creativity and current sounds that make it unique, attractive and always evocative.
